Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian's Wall March 20 with Andy and Loch Ness and Highlands March 22 with James. Very knowledgable guides who had a load of facts to present to us in very amusing ways. The weather cooperated both days which, as we realized, was on our side at this time of year. Long days but worth it.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time with this tour company. We visited Scotland in January 2017 and had a blast with our tour guide James. Not only was James full of knowledge, he made everyone in the tour group feel welcomed. Someone was on the tour alone, and he mentioned he would take pictures for everyone & don't... More

Took the Stirling -> Loch Lommond -> Glengoyne Tour on 20.3.17. Our guide Ian was very knowledgeable and funny, he even made us all sing a scottish song - good times! Apart from that, Glengoyne alone is worth the tour. A small, almost artisan distillery with great whiskey.

My friend Federica and I carefully checked the tour programs before booking with Heart of Scotland and I can say we ended up with the right choice. Danny, our guide, was great and the whole tour was very well organized and funny. Scotland is stunning and while driving up to Skye we had the chance to learn more about its... More

The tour was more than what we expected. Our guide Andy was great - sharing an extensive history of Scotland as well as little tidbits of information that heightened our experience. The tour was well organized and well paced - covering so many sights in 12 hours.

We had an awesome 12 hour tour with our amazing guide James. He made this tour memorable for us, the narratives and every other bit was fantastic. Thanks! Travel time in bus will be around 8hrs, with great views like glen, mountains, rainbow on the horizon 1. Stop to get view of highest peak 2. Loch Ness cruise 3. A... More

The organization of the tour was impecable, timing, places and most of all our tour guides Danny and James. We had a lovely time and learnt a lot about language, history and the scottish way of life. We had a previous cancelation of another tour due to lack of participants and Jen was super attentive and helped us very much.... More

We took the 12-hour Highlands and Loch Ness tour with Paul. I am glad we left the driving to him as I do not think we could have managed this in our own especially with the weather not cooperating. When Paul found out he had Harry Potter and Monty Python fans aboard, he tailored the trip a bit to make... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
