Nice new refurbished place. Lovely on the inside. Food was very yummy although the pulled pork nachos was sparing on the pulled pork, for the extra money I expected the portion of pork to be larger. The spicy bean burger was lovely although the burger...More

Lots of space to drink outdoors, but dominated by a huge screen and, when we went there, some fairly tuneless and loud live music. Beer was OK, but staff looked hassled and stressed. Used to.be a lovely place.

The recent refurbishment of The Pear Tree has meant it's now a really pleasant place to spend an afternoon, inside if it's raining and outside in the beer garden when it's sunny. Friendly and helpful staff, good pub grub and great music.

It's a good place to get a pint and watch some sport on the large screen outside. Good fun on a sunny afternoon.

Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around
university buildings in Southside, the sort of
neighbourhood that supports a long string of
second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for
just a few pounds. In August the student population is
replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here
for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and
arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking
