The famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole of the Old Course at the Home of Golf. The bridge was originally built over 700 years ago so shepherds could move their flock across the Swilcan Burn which meanders through what is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Today the Swilcan Bridge, with the 'Auld Grey Toun' providing the most beautiful of backdrops, is one of the most iconic settings in golf. So much more than a little stone crossing, the Swilcan Bridge is the history of the game, it's the magic moments, it's felt the footsteps of the true greats.

I am not a golf player but visited St Andrews and played the himalayas putting and just had to get our pictures taken here. It's a little bit of history and I can now say I have stood on this bridge!

Grandma loves to golf and a photo at this bridge made her trip. Whilst touring St Andrews, my mom asked for a photo at the bridge. She wanted this for her ladies golf club. Easy off street access to this site makes for a great quick stop.

How many of the greats walked over this bridge or sat on the edge to get a photograph taken. So well kept and another piece of history on the Old Course.

Played the old course for the first time, with a 7 am tee time by using the lottery, had lots of fun on the course, it was more difficult that I imagined. Finished strong and a photo op on the bridge is a great way to finish up the round. Highly recommend using caddies.

As a keen Golfer I achieved one of my ambitions during my recent visit to St Andrews to stand on the Swilcan Bridge and it did not disappoint.

As a golfer there is no more iconic spot, apart from the R & A Clubhouse, than that of this bridge. Many champion golfers have crossed this small and insignificant spot on the 18th fairway and is reknowned the world over by golfers and non-golfers alike.
