Everything has its place and a place should exist for everything but.......

Current ground floor exhibit not really suitable for children. The upstairs exhibit was frankly pathetic. How does clothes hanging on a clothes rail constitute art.? As well as the carrier bag part of that exhibit was also pathetic. Gallery of Modern Art or Gallery of Pompous Garbage? Not worth the money and it was free.

Thanks for the comments. I'm sorry that you found your visit to be a disappointing. Like all museums and galleries, not just modern and contemporary art ones, we acknowledge that the displays may not be to everyone's taste. I note with interest that you appear to have missed the three warning signs, that are displayed outside the gallery, about the... More

I struggled to gain anything from everything I saw at this place. I like to paint and I have or think I have no problem in thinking outside of the "box". What is art? and all that sort of stuff is not something I get bogged down with. This is perhaps demonstrated by my favourite artist being Frank Auerbach and... More

I love any effort to make modern use of ancient buildings and this is one such. It's an old merchant's house from Glasgow's glory days, converted into flexible space for shows of modern art that ranges from the unorthodox to the bizarre. The day we went there, there was a show about films by John Samson, specifically about the pleasure... More

The building, including the stairwells and windows, are very attractive, but the exhibitions are uninspiring. Staff very keen to help.

The most questionable gallery of modern art I've ever seen. Although it's free, it's still not even worth a look, not even if you just happen to be walking past. Only useful as shelter from the rain. This might be your thing if you're into rubbish 'sculptures', 'amateur railway enthusiasm' or 'sex lives of disabled people'. If, like the rest... More

Pop in here to see the beautiful oval balcony on the upper floor and the domed glass roof above. It will take you about 15 minutes, tops. The collections when we visited in December were poor, even by modern art standards.

I personally think that if you are a tourist who is much interested in modern art, maybe you might understand the gallery better however being an artist, I felt that more could have been done in the museum as there was so much space but very little art exhibited. There were a few books and some documentaries which we saw... More

I found the Gallery a little disappointing , despite enjoying modern art. I had expected the place to be bigger - as it was there were only 3 small galleries (one was closed) and there was not a wide variety of artwork on display. It would have been nice to see more artists featured. What was there was interesting but... More

There ain't masses to see in this gallery as its pretty small by comparison to other Modern Art galleries. If what's on show isn't 'up your street' it can be a quick and disappointing tour. However, they try hard to curate exhibitions and it mostly works - I never miss a chance to pop in. Well worth a trip, and... More

I was looking forward to visiting but only found one gallery open - on the ground floor. I didn't see any signage to say that the other galleries were not open or I wouldn't have walked up all the stairs! Just a sign on the doors of the closed galleries. I did spend some time in the library and this... More

Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry that you only managed to find one open gallery. In the past few weeks we have always had two out of our four galleries open (whilst we change our displays) plus our Studio at the top of the building has been open to the public as well. Apologies that the directional signage did not... More
