Excellent introduction to winter walking day course

Excellent, very informative as Liam managed to cover loads in one day including navigation in white out conditions!

Ross was an excellent guide; sorting out varied routes each day to ensure we found the best snow. Day 1 was a great introduction, skinning up Lurchers gulley and making our way to the summit of Ben Macdui (with Ross's excellent navigation in the cloud) and back finishing with a fantastic long ski. Ross was extremely accommodating, giving us options... More

I had some winter skills experience already but they were "self taught", so i booked myself on to a Winter Skills course with Cairngorm Adventure Guides....and enjoyed every second of it! Liam and the instructors were professional, highly knowledgeable and made the course great fun. We went up in to the hills, learn't lots and came away with some good... More

This course taught me more than I expected. Even within the first hour I'd felt I'd learnt enough to make the weekend worthwhile. Liam was fantastic at talking us through avalanche forecasts and what to look out for on the hills. The skills we learnt up there were brilliant, from how to walk up varying terrain to navigating through a... More

2 friend and me enjoyed a great day of winter skills training with Matt. Matt really understood what we wanted to achieve from the day and built on our previous experience. Basics covered included rock anchors, snow belay anchors and ground appreciation. Matt had a depth and breadth of experience that he passed on with enthusiasm. He also gave us... More

This course was beyond my expectations. From start to finish it was very professionally run, with the organisers going out of thir way to make sure you had the best possible course. My instructor Jon was very friendly and a first class tutor, tailoring the five days so I would get the very best out of them. This has to... More

As a women travelling on my own it can be a bit daunting sometimes going to places and signing up to things. I needed have worried. Communications before the course with CAG were brilliant, professional, friendly welcoming and efficient. The course itself was excellent, and well led. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional from the outset. The two days were... More

I wanted to refresh my winter skills as a precursor to going out on my own, but was unsure about which of the many companies offering courses to go with. Liam was very helpful from the outset, promptly answering my questions. I was particularly pleased to be reassured that I did not need a car, as this meant I could... More

Great communication from Cairngorm Adventure Guides before, during and after the trip. Helpful website and very friendly, professionally qualified staff who made us feel completely at ease. The Intro to Winter Mountaineering course was challenging but extremely rewarding, can highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get out in the mountains and gain confidence in winter conditions. I did the... More

What a cracking 3 days and whilst I can't give CAG credit for the stunning weather on the Saturday and Sunday, everything else was excellent and down to Ian's skill and personality. I would consider the style to be winter days with instruction rather than a "course" per se, but this helps to put the skills in context and leads... More
