It was a last minute decision to ride the Speyside way, so I haven't really had the chance to research it, just went with a friend's tip that it is great and flat because it follows the old railway. The first was true, it is indeed a great route/trail! Not sure if I would want to walk it, since it... More

We hired bikes from Bothy bikes and cycled from Aviemore to Boat of Garten, path was easy to follow and well maintained. Mixture of woods, open countryside and even a view of the railway line which if you time it right you can watch the steam train go by.

I only walked a short part of the path from the centre of Aviemore - about 2 hours round trip. The path seems well maintained and was in good condition even after very heavy rain. I would go further the next time.

I did a day bike ride loop from Aviemore to Boat of Garten to Carrbridge to Grantown on Spey back up the Nethy Bridge and back to Aviemore. It was great to not have to ride on the narrow roads the whole time. I was able to take the trail from Aviemore to Boat of Garten, roads from there and... More

People go to New England to see the trees in Fall. They could come to Speyside instead - and see the amazing Autumn colours of beech, birch, copper beech, horse chesnut, bracken and larch against the backdrop of spectacular evergreens, rivers, mountains and valleys in the warm light of the sun low in the sky. Add in a red night... More

We walked only a short section - Boat of Garten to Aviemore - starting with a steam train journey in the other direction this made for a great morning out. Very easy walking mostly on cycle-paths. Peaceful and with lovely scenery.

A friend and I hiked the trail from Buckie to Aviemore (65 miles) ... About 10 to 13 miles a day. Our arrangements were made by Contours Walking Holidays, who provided detailed maps and descriptions and arranged for lodging in B&Bs and transportation for our luggage each day. So we only needed a daypack. The very start and end of... More

We have walked various stretches of the very scenic Speyside Way and intend to return and do more. Walkthehighlands website has excellent information which you can print out. Great variety of scenery on the walks so far.
