Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside. Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

As we were staying in the Strathspey Hotel in the Aviemore Centre we thought we would spend some of the morning on the steam railway. The carriages gradually filled up and were at capacity when the whistle blew to tell us we would soon be...More

What a lovely trip especially when sun is shining and that's unfortunately not often. Train staff are lovely with even the Trolley Dolly saying she is not a trolley dolly but a dragon with a wagon. Try the Rock Gin and Fever Tonic. Great Scottish...More

If you're in the area it is worth a trip. We went on the train for my husbands birthday. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours without taking up much of the day. You can hop on and off the train...More

If you love steam railways you'll love this, run by volunteers, don't expect pristine restoration of the carriages, but was very comfortable and the scenery was lovely and so relaxing. The actual engine was great and gives an insight into the past. I loved it....More

We stayed in Aviemore and loved the village, the shops, the restaurants and the lochs. We adored the Cairngorm Mountain Railway. A brilliant feat of engineering and so useful to the skiers in the winter! Exciting exhibition when you reach the top, a good cafe...More

I want the railway to survive. Very much so. I am therefore a member of the association and have given several donations to them for various appeals. My last meal on the train in Aug 2017 was a shambles from booking to eating. The train...More

I've been on many preserved railways but never have I seen such well refurbished rolling stock! The staff were fantastic- friendly and informative with both adults and kids. We had afternoon tea ( must be booked in advance) and it was excellent. Lovely soft, well...More

We got off to stretch our legs on the platform. The toilets were freshly decorated no graffiti anywhere to be seen. There is a small gift shop in the ticket office

I believe that there were dogs on the train when we visited. As the other person said check the web site and give hem a call. The trip on the train is great.
