Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside. Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

Something a bit different with great views from the carriage. Not high class restaurant but it's got a good nostalgic feel and loved the bagpipes on the station as the train came in.

We paid 48 pounds for a high tea and 50 minute steam train ride. Although I accept that volunteers run the services, there is NO EXCUSE for a dirty vinyl cloth in a very shabby carriage. NO finesse with the tea order- hot water, tea...More

As with the previous trips on this holiday, the Strathspey Steam Railway was a morning out that my family had done on a previous holiday and given my fondness for steam trains, I was happy with this little journey up and down part of the...More

A real treat, like going back 50 years. The Station stops were A delight with beautiful flowers, and also one had a waiting room from the past almost like a sitting room with lots of interesting things. When we reached the end of the line...More

On a sunny day in August we walked from Aviemore to Boat of Garten with our 9 year old daughter. We had our picnic in Boat then booked on the steam train back. A pleasant enough train journey through the beautiful scenery we'd earlier walked...More

Lovely to sit back and enjoy the scenery at leisure. You do need good weather to see the views at their best I would say.

We took a trip with the railway this morning and the trip and views were excellent. The Train travels from Aviemore to Broomhill. The sounds, the uniforms, the old engine puffing away and the signs in the stations are all authentic and add to the...More

We got off to stretch our legs on the platform. The toilets were freshly decorated no graffiti anywhere to be seen. There is a small gift shop in the ticket office

I believe that there were dogs on the train when we visited. As the other person said check the web site and give hem a call. The trip on the train is great.
