Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

Our son is a huge "Thomas the Tank Engine" fan so on a trip to Inverness this seemed like a good fit as a treat from his Nana, and it was. We took the return trip but not the dining option. The cost is a little expensive for the length of trip you get but I am sure its not... More

We went on the steam train on a wet day in Aviemore. We did the return journey to Broomhill. It was, as expected, a relaxing trip on an old steam train. It is fairly expensive at £14.95 per adult return but understandable due to the running costs. A nice way to spend a wet morning.

We travelled on the Stratspey Steam Railway from Aviemore to Broomhill. It was an enjoyable trip for our steam enthusiast friend and us. The scenery was lovely and our car driver had a chance to relax and enjoy it too. The cost for a senior return was £12.80. We just stretched our legs at Broomhill before returning to the train.There... More

An interesting little journey. Well organised. Lovely views. We carried on and took the cable car up Cairngorm. I would recommend it

Enjoyed first class travel and a very enjoyable Sunday dinner. The food was of a very high standard with a very attentive service. The distance travelled is very short so the train makes a few stops along the way, this allows passengers can enjoy the wonderful scenery while having dinner. If you would like to experience a bit of living... More

We enjoyed a two-hour day trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway. We were fortunate to have a lovely, sun-filled day and delighted in seeing the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands. We also enjoyed seeing the steam engine, and the whole relaxing experience was la little like going back in time.

Staff on the station unhelpful and kept giving wrong information. Elderly and disabled people were given no help to board or leave train. Inside of carriage windows were filthy. No hot drinks available on train as advertised until almost the end of the trip. Food on offer was mainly dry and stale sponge cake. Later a young lad did come... More

Tickets were included in the Nethybridge hotel deal. Boarded the train at Broomhill, or Strathbogle, the train station in Monarch of the Glen. There is a Strathbogle station sign for a photo. The railway runs from Broomhill to Aviemore via Boat of Garten and the scenery is quite spectacular with the mountains as a backdrop and some of the still... More
