Take the road for John O Groats towards the coast. Watch out for dozy sheep and park up near the lighthouse. Then take the walk down to the viewing point. Not certain if you can get nearer as it was blowing a gale and would...More

Great place for views over the ocean. Whale watchers regularly set up at the head . Chat to them they are very friendly. If you have time take the cliff walk as well.

We saw puffins! And the stacks are cool too. Pleasant spot for a walk, short or long, lots of bird life.

If you are visiting John O'Groats make sure you make the 5 minute trip to visit Duncansby head too as this is the real north east tip! It has fantastic stacks, views and a great breeding bird colony. Not to be missed!

They make it sound in most reviews as if you have to walk out of this lighthouse. You do not. Not only is there a ro there but there is also a decent sized car park at the top. The Lighthouse is not open and...More

Glorious position - 5-10 minutes drive from John O’Groats - views over the sea and to the Stacks - but NO facilities - NO toilets or water point (or bushes for that matter...) free range sheep.

More than worth the effort to get here. Park close to the lighthouse and then follow the walking track - you are rewarded with a view of the stacks from a distance very quickly. Keep going and you’ll get the added benefit of some amazing...More

After finding very little at John O'Groats we followed the sign to Duncansby Head and were so glad we did. There is a lovely little lighthouse there with views over the Orkney Isles and potential dolphin spotting if you are lucky. The start of the...More

Hello; What a lovely walk you're planning...but the main attraction is between the lighthouse and the stacks (not between John O and the lighthouse. So be sure to pace yourself so that you can walk the latter part of the... More
