The Queen Mother’s residence! Not more really needs to be said. Just a short way from John O’Groats the Queen Mother spent many a fine day. Remote and worth a visit.

Nice views of the Orkneys from the grounds. The timed guided tours of the Castle are well worth it - the guide we had was not only very knowledgeable but amusing at the same time - the little snippets of life in the Castle both...More

A look into the life of the Queen Mother, the tour of the castle was well done, our guide had several stories and enjoyable facts about the Royal Family, specifically the Queen Mother. The gardens were wonderful, beautifully kept.

The Castle and Gardens of May are just a short trip along the coastline from Thurso. Going along a large driveway you are taken the the back of the castle to the carpark on the grassy area beside the Tearoom and Gift shop. It's here...More

We Spent and enjoyable time exploring the lovely walled gardens. The guided tour of the castle was very good and found it provided a wonderful insight into the life of the Queen's mother. The tea room is also worth a visit.

2-3 Hours depending on whether you go to the Café for refreshments and of course oor lovely weather. I hope this was a helpful.
