Historical information was interesting and well presented. The museum is well laid out but would benefit from having more artwork on display?

Excellent museum. Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable staff. Clean, well-tended facilities. Interesting, thoughtfully interpreted displays of natural history, the prehistoric and more recent social history of Inverness and the local region, with particularly fine collections of Pictish and Jacobite artefacts. And a nice cup of tea and a bun to finish. Enjoyed every minute. And the whole things was free - apart... More

The museum has been renovated since my last visit. It has a very strong local history collection, works of art, and special exhibitions. The use of Gaelic as well as English is a further point of interest.

Very friendly and welcoming staff at this smashing little museum. Interesting local history and natural history. Take some time to play the Viking board game with the unpronounceable name!

Easily found behind the information centre, in the centre of town. Its free, informative with a few interactive exhibits and best of all sheltered from the wind and the rain!

My son loves museums and we travelled here for a weekend break which brought us to this museum, he currently attends Gaelic school so I found it really good that it was both in English and Gaelic including the small sound board which let you hear pronunciations of some Gaelic phrases. He had fun in all sides of the museum.

We have visited many years ago so thought we would go again. Really enjoyed it with plenty to see. There was things for kids to do to keep them engaged. Great way to pass some time.

The museum is set across two floors and offers lots of historical information on Scotland and Inverness. It was free admission and a good way to get lost in history for a few hours. The small café was brilliant and made brilliant toasties.
