It is always great to find any good excuse to step into one of the Great Houses of Scotland, so when we obtained four entry tickets for the antique fair that drizzly Saturday, our friends and ourselves drove into the grounds of Scone Palace as though we belonged there. It is a quite wonderful pile on the country outskirts of... More

Scone Palace is a fascinating place. We first visited in the off-season when the Palace was closed but enjoyed the expensive gardens. So when a friend was staying last summer we took the opportunity to go back. So glad we did. The rooms and contents just amazing and it became an enjoyable history tour. For anyone with an interest in... More

Scone Palace is a very popular place for tourists when they travel around Scotland. I think this is right. This is for reasons related to the history of Scotland. The palace itself is not very old. I think the most valuable is a small chapel in which was crowned Robert the Bruce - King of Scotland. Scottish people respect his... More

We lucked out with the weather when we went to Scone Palace, it was really sunny and warm. The grounds wouldn't be so enticing with rain battering down. The Palace itself is full of information and the guides are more than happy to fill in any blanks. There is lots to do here, going around the Palace takes time and... More

Privately owned, and still a private residence, only certain rooms are open to visitors but still enough to satisfy. Disappointingly, photography is not allowed inside the palace. Historically important as the crowning place of the Kings of Scotland and the former home of the Stone of Destiny.

Booked a bus trip to scone palace for a Xmas Carol night out . Was not disappointed from the welcome we got from our very friendly guide who was so informative and proud to show off the palace. We were treated to a lovely meal set in the grand hall( two bus loads of us oldies), after it was into... More
