Culture is at the very heart of Perth and Kinross. Artists, writers and musicians across the ages have found their inspiration here by the River Tay. Perth Museum and Art Gallery houses one of the oldest museum collections in the UK. Our changing exhibition programme explores the heritage and creativity of Perthshire - with a unique selection of art, natural history and archaeology on display to bring these stories to life. The venue also hosts contemporary touring exhibitions. A warm welcome is extended to all, with free activities in the galleries and an annual programme of events to support the exhibitions. The museum offers disabled access, parking nearby and a gift shop.

An enjoyable hour spent in the museum to see a 'War Art' display. The building is light, spacious and well set out. It also caters very well for disabled access to all parts. Recommend time is spent there.

The museum had a Wooly Wednesday event today to coincide with half term and I and the three kids I brought with me really enjoyed it. They made different things which kept their attention, tried out other skills like embroidery and wool spinning that they haven't tried before and I enjoyed joining in too. The staff were really enthusiastic and... More

The Museum and Art Gallery has two main permanent display areas, one of which tells the story of Perth and district from earliest times to the present day. There are pictures, objects, descriptions, and a TV video. It is well done and brings the history to life. A second room gives a permanent display of the geology and wild life... More

Good for a family outing, especially in bad weather. Smallish museum, but plenty of exhibits, from exploits during the war (temporary exhibits?) , local history, ecology, wildlife and geology. So a bit for everyone.

Thoroughly enjoyed this evening event. A great combination of art and history and the personal experience of David in being on the front line recording the action in drawings and sketches which he later translated onto canvas.

Was expecting this to be very interesting with lots of well exhibited material but found lacking. Some areas good but generally found old fashioned in the displays and descriptions. Also absolutely freezing. is a beautiful building though.

We visited when there was a Christmas market taking place, but we were very impressed with the war photos, pictures and memories. It seems like a very good place for children interaction, and there are changing displays.

Every time we go to Perth we make a point of popping in to the museum and art gallery. Is the art always to my taste? No. Does it matter? No. Because it's free entry! This time there was a great exhibition on Scottish nature. In the past there was a great display of old photos of when the river... More

There's something always something special in this consistently interesting Museum and Art Gallery...at least, on any of the many times I have been there. Popped in to see what's new this weekend, on a bitterly biting but dry day outside. and discovered to my absolute delight that there's a great exhibition of military-related artefacts, drawings, sculpture and paintings on display...
