As with St Ninians Cathderal in Perth, it's completely closed to visitors from October until March. So much for Perth as a tourist centre and what church especially a cathedral and the oldest church in Perth completely shut for any visitors including worshipers. It's pathetic and affront for any Christian venue.

Impressed by the beautiful sculpture of John the Baptist. Information cards available to help while moving around the church. Woman on duty was extremely pleasant and helpful.

A lovely welcoming church at the centre of Perth. We were greeted warmly at the door with an apology for the preparations for the induction of a new Minister to the Church. In fact, they added to the charm and warmth of an interesting church with a key part in Scottish history.

We were just passing by and decided to pop in for a look. Were greeted at the door and welcomed in and given an information sheet to wander round with. Very interesting church with a lovely atmosphere.

We were exploring Perth and discovered the church and decided to enter to be greeted by a very welcoming volunteer who encouraged us to investigate the church with the aid of an explanatory map. Most interesting and we would recommend a visit to the oldest building in Perth.

Whether you are religious or not if you get the opportunity to take a look round this amazing and very old historic church then please do. There are a number of café bars and eateries just across from the Church so you can get a cuppa afterwards!! We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who showed us where there... More

A hidden treasure behind the City Hall. Oh that they knock it down and we can see the church in all its glory

As this is one of the oldest buildings in Perth it is clearly of great historical interest and significance. What a pity therefore that the doors were locked and there was no access. The city's cathedral was also locked up and one wonders if it is a sad reflection of a city that churches cannot be left open, as they... More

Another grant from King David. 1126 was the first reference to a church of St. John the Baptist in Perth, as they say. For more than 500 years, the spire dominate Perth and the most important of the Burgh; and the most ancient building sitting just in the center the old Royal Burgh. Worth a visit!
