I got a bus from Ayr, to nearest place I could, and walked down by the shore, enjoyed the view. Lots of birds and wildlife. Quite happily picked up pebbles and bright yellow periwinkle shells, and just enjoyed Greenan Beach abd the fresh sea air. The ruins of the castle are in splendid view at all times, unfortunately didn't have time to walk all the way upto the castle, but will another time. Stopped off on the bus back to Ayr for a delicious lunch at Rozelle House tea rooms, another recommendation for great, fresh, home cooked food

This ruined castle has a most commanding position overlooking the main Ayr beach to the north and towards the town itself. It is particularly nice to walk to across the sands although is a bit of a climb up.

Visited in May and thought the views were stunning. Noticed lots of glass on the floor near the base of the tower but didn't think much of it. The glass is also on the walls of the tower so if you decide to climb it to look inside you will slide your fingers. Take care!

Stopped off here on a day exploring Ayr. Car park is quite a way from the castle so you will need a fair walk to explore . Great location on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. Had planned to have an explore but it raining torrentially all day so only got to look from the car park. Hope to return one day to look at it better

This is one of the main places I head to when I visit Ayr.
I love the walk out to the castle, it gives so many photo opportunities on the way.
Once you get up beside the castle the views are brilliant.

Walking the extra steps to visit Geenan Castle was worth the time and effort. The trail along the beach is filled with interesting tidal pools and beautiful views. The view from the castle is spectacular.

Free, just a ruin small path not maintained to get there, can be precarious. Dunure castle along the coast much better if you like ruins,
