I loved visiting this village as my family was originally from lewis and would have lived in cottages similar to this. The village is so pretty and the view from the bottom of it is so beautiful. The museum house is fabulous and gives you an insight into how life would have been. The highlight for me was watching how... More

Very well maintained former cottages of a coastline community, beautiful setting, you can rent some of the cottages to sleep in - a massive bonus was the lovely cafe manned by the friendliest lady in the island !

This lodging is so unique in its charm and setting--- easy to get to from the Stornaway airport with a rental car. The beauty and history of these old-stone structures in a breathtaking environment by the waters is a memorable experience at least once during any travel and exploration. You are in an old village enclave of its own. Walking... More

Haven taken a recommendation from the Lonely Planet book we stopped in here for a look around. The staff in the shops and inside the houses are very friendly as well as being helpful. The cost of admission is £3.50 which pays towards the upkeep of the houses.

Peeked in as many windows as I could. What a great place to stay for a mini vacation! Charming, authentic and by the seaside!

Very friendly staff on hand to answer questions. Stunning views. The houses are amazing and need to be seen if holidaying in the area.

If you have the opportunity to stay here, do it! We stayed in Taigh Thormoid 'an 'ic Iain -the one bedroom Blackhouse for the weekend, but we had the whole village to ourselves for the duration. The sea views from the croft were amazing to wake up to, the cute little wood burner and underfloor heating are great to ward... More

I walked around the house enjoying their structure and imagining what life must have been like the sea view is lovely. Unfortunately, there was nothing open, no café, no shop, no internal viewing. It's March and this is a common story even when publicity information says they are open.

Fantastic insight to previous life. Really great place to visit. Shame it was closed and not completely open. Was great to see size of homes and a peat fire burning

What an amazing place. The reconstruction of the village is amazing and I could easily have stayed there all day soaking up the atmosphere and the views. The buildings were closed when we got there but it was still worth a visit
