Lip na Cloiche is a small, densely-planted garden on the Isle of Mull, open to the public. Lip na Cloiche garden is situated close to the shoreline of the Isle of Mull, and has stunning views of Loch Tuath and the Isle of Ulva. It is well worth seeing, especially if you are interested in finding out which plants are likely to thrive in the mild local climate. A wide range of such plants is available for sale throughout the year, as well as fresh eggs and many craft items made from locally "found" materials. There is no admission charge.

The visit to this garden was without doubt the highlight of our trip to Mull. What an incredible achievement for Lucy who has created this patch of heaven from nothing. 11 years of what must have been very hard work and a real labour of love. There's a wonderful array of plants crammed together with quirky recycled garden tools and... More

Mull visitors have to get used to narrow roads and slow traffic - but a visit to this garden is so worth the effort. Lucy is on hand to advise and the plants she sells are always successful. The garden itself defies description... you just HAVE to go there.

This is a strange place in the best sense: impossibly lush and beautiful, straight up a hill, with extraordinary views. The woman who runs it does ask for contributions, which seems only fair: there is an unbelievable amount of work here.

We stopped off here en route to join the Turus Mara boat trip which sets off from Ulva Ferry. It’s just a privately owned home which doubles as a B&B and has a superb compact garden built into the hillside behind. A narrow path winds it’s way quickly uphill alongside a burn, crosses over the rear of the property and... More

This is one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever been in with an amazing array of different plants. Lucy was extremely helpful with her outstanding knowledge and advice. Luckily I live in an area which also benifits from the gulf stream so was able to buy a lovely selection to bring home. I have been telling all my... More

A real gem of a garden hewn out of the hillside by one woman over 11 years. A treat to explore and also to enjoy the views across to Ulva. Lucy showed us around and was very generous with her time. Boundless enthusiasm.

Isle of Mull is an amazing place and Ballygown is just beautiful. I was really looking forward to visiting these gardens and was planning on purchasing some plants from Lucy. She, unfortunately is one of the rudest women I have ever had the displeasure of coming into contact with and completely ruined the whole experience. I am not sure why... More

a two day trip to Mull - I had booked an overnight at Lip na Cloiche and had no idea the beauty that we had chanced upon!!! Lucy has created such an amazing garden with attention, care, precision and love oozing from every little detail. Overlooking Loch Tuath the garden is on a hillside with a little stream running through... More

We wanted to see this place after reading the glowing reviews from trip advisor but unfortunately we were put off at the start of the visit when the landlady welcomed us by saying "I'm expecting a donation"! You either have an admission fee or you leave it to the public to decide. This is a nice wee garden but we... More
