Went in for books...

Instead got a sneaky peek at "Quicksand"! What else is a tourist to do after a few too many nights out? Catch a show! If you're in Dublin between June 11 and 22 2019 you should really check this one out. Dark comic thriller for only €17?! Yes please!

Terrifically intimate, incredibly inexpensive theater experience.

I was struck by the posting in the window as I wandered by. Very little info about the show; but I was intrigued. Also, the show, "I see you" only was running for less than a week. I booked a ticket and stepped through the back of the book store into an intimate theater space with raked seats, unobstructed views of the stage all around. It was a great way to experience a local production. Surely, each production might not be suitable for children.

Had a great time at this theatre - we loved it!
Feb 2019 • Couples
I loved my visit to this theatre and highly-recommend it. We (wife and I) came across this little theatre ..... I think there are 66 seats ..... by chance as we were walking through Temple Bar. It looks like a book shop from the outside. The foyer is actually a book shop! We booked for the next night to watch a two person black comedy called The Tide.

We loved it. Give this theatre a try.

Hidden Theatre
Jan 2018 • Friends
Hidden within a bookshop in Temple Bar finding The New Theatre is a bit like finding buried treasure. Specialising in supporting new writing you are guaranteed to find something new, daring, different or inventive on stage.

Edgy and inventive: a night to remember

We saw "The Last Green Bag," which is a diabolically clever spoof of film noir ... with a sharp twist that sneaks up on you just as you're laughing at the idiocy of it all. Come here if you're looking for playwrights with something to say ... actors willing to take chances ... and an audience that's both earthy and sophisticated. Some small theatres feel inadequate to the task; this one felt just right. You're so close to the action that you're an insider, too -- complicit in all the schemes. It's a thrilling feeling.

Quirky but nice quirky!

I attended 'Save & Quit' at the weekend and both the play and theatre deserve a thumbs up. The theatre is small and intimate but did not feel at all cramped. The quirky bit is that you enter through a door in the back of a little book store.

I was gifted tickets to the opening night of this new play in June 2016. This was my first visit to the theatre (apart from knowing where the bookshop was) and I had a great experience. You enter through the bookshop and immediately find yourself in a cosy and quaint atmosphere. I received a warm welcome and enjoyed browsing through the bookshelves before buying a Russian novel and sitting with a lovely cup of tea before the house opened. The theatre itself is intimate and small but this gives you a engaging connection with the performance. Sound and lighting were excellent. The play was riveting and I would love the opportunity to see more productions in this venue.

I travelled from Donegal for the performance and am glad I did, I had a lovely evening dipping into a world that I don't usually have access to. Highly recommended if you enjoy original new theatre.

P.S. I drove into Dublin and parked at Ormond Quay then took a quick stroll across the river to the venue. Parking was free of charge after 7pm.

A small Dublin theatre
Oct 2015 • Friends
This is a relatively small theatre in the Temple Bar area of Dublin that tends to do non-mainstream plays/performances. The seating isn't particularly comfortable and food/drink facilities are limited.
