Christ Church Cathedral is one of Dublin's oldest buildings, a leading visitor attraction and a place of pilgrimage for almost 1,000 years. Famous for its breathtaking beauty, magnificent architectural features and wonderful floor tiles, Christ Church is also popular as a venue and is host to many high profile concerts throughout the year. It is home to the tomb of Strongbow, leader of the Normans, who captured Dublin in 1170. The Medieval Crypt, one of the largest in Britain and Ireland, extends under the entire Cathedral and contains The Mummified cat and rat, trapped in the organ in the 1860s.

Guided tours, including the belfry, available up to five times a day Monday to Saturday.

The Cathedral is absolutely stunning both inside and out. For a little more money you can pay to have a go at bell ringing in the bell tower and this is a must! Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed it, it was great learning all the history behind the bells and the cathedral, the staff were lovely and the bell... More

Because our hostel located here, we then took many excursions around the Cathedral! First impression, reminds me of Queen Mary University of London because of the clock on top of the cathedral. Next, its black and white colours certainly created an amazing foreshadowing of the holy saint and the devil

The beauty and architecture of this cathedral is amazing. Every single place you explore has wonderful touches of color and design. The structure itself is extremely old and I think that adds to the loveliness of the building and grounds. It's nice to take time to explore on your own and take pictures. The crypt is also worth a visit... More

The cathedral was beautiful and the staff working for admission were incredibly pleasant! You can do a self guided tour or wait for a guided tour to begin. I wish I had been able to do the bell ringing tour because it sounded like so much fun!

I highly recommend the cathedral tours. Cathedrals are places of religious practice, great music, living history, and you will find pockets of quirky facts. For instance, The Christ Church crypt is the oldest structure open to the public in Ireland. Several hit TV series were filmed on sight (see if you can figure them out). The bells of Christ Cathedral... More

We traveled in 2012 The outside structure and grounds were beautiful. It cost 25 euro at the time for entrance. I would have loved to have seen the crypt and cathedral

Bought tickets for this event in Aug/Sept 2016 and nearly forgot about it by the time Christmas rolled around. We arrived early and got a great seat near the front. Performance was divided into two sections. First focused on ancient hymns/carols from the 1400s onwards. Never heard most of them before but the experience was magical especially when combined with... More

This is a very beautiful cathedral which truly reflects Ireland's heritage. Given that the building is nearly a millennium old, it is quite well-maintained. It is really delightful to behold its exquisite European architecture from various angles. I visited the church during late evening hours and it was beautifully lit up, which accentuated the gorgeous structure even more. I found... More
