Christ Church Cathedral is one of Dublin's oldest buildings, a leading visitor attraction and a place of pilgrimage for almost 1,000 years. Famous for its breathtaking beauty, magnificent architectural features and wonderful floor tiles, Christ Church is also popular as a venue and is host to many high profile concerts throughout the year. It is home to the tomb of Strongbow, leader of the Normans, who captured Dublin in 1170. The Medieval Crypt, one of the largest in Britain and Ireland, extends under the entire Cathedral and contains The Mummified cat and rat, trapped in the organ in the 1860s. Guided tours, including the belfry, available up to five times a day Monday to Saturday.

We got invited to take part in evening prayers while touring the inside which was rather surreal in such an historical church. I was a little worried about lightening until we went down in the crypts and I discovered the Viking roots! The Crypt also...More

We thought we were going to take the guided tour, but accidentally ended up doing self-guided. No regrets on that front, though! The self-guided tour grants you access to pretty much the whole cathedral. We spent a long time exploring every inch! The cathedral is...More

Christ Church offers Evensong every Thursday at 5 pm. It's a lovely experience with a fabulous choir (during term time). The flyer for the service mentioned that Evensong has been offered there for 1,000 years! We enjoyed it very much.

We did a self guided tour and it was really a beautiful church. Definitely worth stopping into. Don't forget to go into the crypts in the basement!

We first went by St. Patrick's Cathedral and Park, then wanted to see this church. Absolutely love the exterior, especially the arch over the road, but we did not want to pay to see the inside which, if you read my St. Patrick's review, is...More

Another beautiful and historic place in Dublin. The Charter House foundation next to the church dates from the 1100s. The church is especially beautiful when it is lit up at night.

Unique in that it has a bridge over the street and the stain glass is so well lit. We stayed for a prayer service. Every Cathedral in Europe is beautiful and sad. Millions of dollars to build and maintain and staff and 50 people actually...More

Absolutely stunning building. Pictures do no do justice. The building is within walking distance from river Liffey. It is across from the Dublinia. This a picturesque place and you even catch a horse drawn carriage driving by.

Hi. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'll try to get it fixed as soon as possible. You can buy all of our tickets at the welcome desk, and at this time of year you shouldn't encounter a very long queue. Ruairi
