Dublin Castle was for 700 years the seat of British power in Ireland. Today you can still view the remains of the 13th century structure as part of the guided tour. The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700's and today is used by the Irish Governemnt for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignatories. Amongst the highlights are the Ladies Drawing Room, the Throne Room and St. Patricks Hall.

We walked by without every noticing it. So went back and checked it out. It wasn't something I would visit again in the future.

You can visit Dublin Castle and view the outside - it is all very interesting and historic and well worth the walk. You don't need to go inside to get the drift of the place but if you do, you'll find it well worth it....More

If you have little time a walk by will do you just fine. If you have more time get there early (like as soon as they open) and get tickets for a tour. It really is worth the 10 euro, but not necessary to appreciate...More

One hour guided tour of this magnificent building is highly recommended. If you are lucky enough to get the very smart fluent and knowledgeable guide we had it would make the experience all the more better. Afraid don't remember the name of the guide.

We have seen the castle and did a round, but as we have visit other castles in Europe, we have seen more impressive one`s from the inside and outside. It is worth a trip and you can get a guide for a tour.

We had a brilliant guide who was informative with a sense of humour. Although it guided tour cost €3 more than the self guided tour, you get to see the powder tower (what’s left of it) and the royal chapel which were well worth the...More

Dublin Castle is a good tour, not a great tour. If you only had limited time, there are other things I would recommend. BUT we enjoyed the hour or so that we spend there so I wouldn't say that it is bad.

We toured the castle apartments and the chapel ourselves, and had a guided tour of the medieval undercroft (I highly recommend that, fascinating). I would say it took 2 1/2 hours at the most.
