Concerts given 5 nights a week with top-notch musicians playing traditional music. The night we went there was a fiddler, a flute player and an Irish bagpipe player plus a wonderful dancer. Great musicianship, and a chance to ask questions about the music, the instruments...More

We went along to 'Tunes in the Church' on each of the three nights we spent in Galway - each night presented with different tunes/musicians and award winning dancer. This is music of the highest calibre. The musicians are friendly, recalling amusing incidents, happy to...More

The musicians who played the night we went were of the quality you would expect at festivals - highly skilled and thoroughly steeped in the culture. They played great sets with some back story thrown in for good measure. I went in with low-ish expectations...More

Came across the church while wondering around looking for live music. Less rambunctious than a pub, but just the music I was looking for. A must see if you get the chance!

A must try in Galway. About 90 minutes of local musicians playing traditional Irish music. It's in a church, so the acoustics are amazing! Music 5 nights a week in June/July, 7 days in August.

Tunes in the Church is a wonderful event, I can't recommend it enough. Fantastic musicians, a very casual atmosphere (largely thanks to Chris, the MC), and amazing acoustics. The musicians talk about their path through the tradition, how they learned to play and their approach...More

This was one of the most memorable evenings in Ireland. Music, stories and dance by a dedicated and talented group. Acoustics in the church were fantastic and the evening included a short tour of some interesting history of the building. Started early with enough time...More

The performance is called "Tunes in the Church" but that name hardly lets you know what magic you are in for. The performance takes place in a corner of a large historic church. The musicians talk to you first about the instruments they will use...More
