I did a great walk to get there and I was great! You must go if you were around the area. We took a horse and cart to get there.

Very pleasant area with many different signposted walks to various viewpoints. You can walk a little or a lot. You can stick to the well surfaced main paths or go off piste so to speak. Lots of free parking, same as Ross Castle, and clean toilets. Easyto drive to from Killarney.

Ross Castle seems to be the highlight here so do explore it and get up as high as you can--it's worth the views. But if you take time to walk around the island also you see amazing sights on Lough Lein. I was there just before sunset in January, so the skies were fabulous. There are boats available for hire... At Ross Castle have a wander around the castle grounds but to me if you have seen one ruined castle you have often seen them all. There are some lovely views to be had here however over Lake Leane. The reflection of the mountains in the lake is particularly good.

The ruin that is Ross Castle is situated on a beautiful lake where the the reflection of the mountains hitting the water is spectacular. The castle itself you can walk around it but you cannot go inside. The view across the lake is stunning and if you like there is a 45 minute cruise that you can take which will... More

Nice island with small castle. Take bread with you - there are a lot of very hungry ducks. There is a pier with small boats to Inishfallen Island and Abbey and other parts of Killarney National Park. Has small cafe and toilets.

Park at Ross Castle to have a wander around the castle grounds, then carry on through the forest to see ruins of the old Copper Mine and Governor's Rock. Along the way there are some lovely views and gorgeous spots to sit and take in the views over Lough Leane.
