Excellent tour of this fantastic castle. Loved learning about the art on the banquet hall ceilings and their work in trying to preserve it. Took a 15-month-old baby with us and he had a lovely time as well. Not too many stairs. Good parking near...More

We stopped at the Kilkenny Castle-checkout the free app. The various rooms were all very well furnished, lots of art work. Interesting to see how the nobles lived.

This huge, ornate estate changed hands from the Butler family & is now managed by the Irish Office of Public Works. It is undergoing meticulous restoration to the state of its 19th century glory.

Interesting and one of many castles in Ireland. If you are staying in Kilkenny this is a good 2 hour activity. Gardens are free and this would be a good place to picnic on a sunny day.

Very interesting and well worth the entrance fee. The Guards/ attendants are most knowledgeable, and seemed eager to answer questions.

I completely agree with taking the train. It was a ninety minute ride from Dublin Hurston to Kilkenny with beautiful scenery along the way. Very easy to walk from station to castle. Don’t miss the Black Abbey, St. Candice... More
