A beautiful and unique place to visit for those with a love of art or history. The gallery is sited in the former Drogheda Franciscan Church and part of the Friary; known locally as the ‘High Lane Church’. The Franciscans gifted the property to the people of Drogheda when they ended their 760 year association with the town in 2000. The buildings date from the early 19th century, though elements date back to earlier times.

The Highlanes Gallery, home of Drogheda's municipal art collection, is a hub of artistic innovation and education. Curated by the wonderful Aoife Ruane, the gallery is warm, friendly and accessible. The gallery constantly invites guests to experience new collections and challenges them to explore what those collections mean to them. A wonderful gallery, well worth visiting.

Stumbled across this place when wandering around town last weekend. It's such a great space, the development of a church into a really modern space is very impressive. We found it very relaxing to stroll around and enjoy the art. There's a cafe inside too which looked nice.

Thus place is class....what they did with the old church and integrated it with the gallery is what needs to happen to a lot more really cool Old sites around the town. Always good exhibitions and the art work they have of Old Drogheda is fascinating.

Called into the gallery today with my mother in law and my small baby. The exhibition of Texaco Children's Art was fantastic. We really enjoyed the time spent there, but unfortunately due to upset baby cut our time shorter than I would have liked. Staff were so friendly and helpful, and understanding of small baby which put me at ease.... More

Once a church, this gallery has a large open feel to it that really helps show the exhibits in their best light. The current exhibition is the Marmite prize, and being modern art marmite is probably a good name as just as many people will hate it as love it. However that's not the gallery's fault. There's a Relish cafe... More

I always pop in when in the area. Highlands manages to give a really contemporary feel. The setting is lovely, clever use of space, the permanent exhibition is of great interest. The visiting exhibitions are both international and local and always feel fresh.

Tried the Marmite Prize Exhibition and although the modern art was not to our taste, it was well displayed. We liked the small painting entitled 'Ripe'. The art work of Drogheda very interesting and good to see some of it has been made into postcard and poster format. Good cafe adjacent.
