Lovely

Smooth as glass on a calm day. Soak in the peace and quiet and watch birds Wade on the water. There is a view point of the lake on the main road N16 with parking

Picturesque lake
Aug 2020
it can be a nightmare to park the car. Besides visiting the waterfall, a lot of people visit the lake for a family/picnic day, so it will be busy, most of the times.

Breathtaking drive through the valley to the lake
Jul 2019 • Couples
Definitely worth a drive down to the lake through the valley, can be a bit scary looking for the edge initially.

Peaceful and Serene!
Mar 2019 • Couples
Glencar Lake gave us some breathtaking views. It was peaceful and serene. The lake is a freshwater lake and covers about 284 acres. The area around the lake is known as "Yeats Country" after the Irish poet. His poem, “The Stolen Child,” was about the nearby Glencar Waterfall. There is a small car park at the lake where we parked. We had a black bird perching on the fence right in front of the car. We spent some time watching him and listening to him squawk. He sure did not mind the humans watching him.
