Climb wasn't too difficult. Views were spectacular, was annoyed at top when saw some tourists climb the cairn, when people are specifically asked not to. 360 view is worth it.

Relatively straightforward climb, easily accessable for kids. Great view from the top. If you do go please stay off the Cairn!! So many signs but they just get ignored and you can see the damage that's been caused as a result.

We were advised by reception at our hotel to take this hike. That was good advise. The driving route was well marked, there was ample parking and the trail was in good condition. I believe it is a 1.2 km hike to the top. Once there, the views are incredible. You have a great view of the ocean and Strandhill... More

A beautiful view from the top of the hill. As you're making your journey up you get to hang out with some sheep that are wandering free along the side. Knocknarea is accessible from a couple of towns, making it a fun day trip. We started our journey in Sligo, walked to and up Knocknarea and then down into Strandhill.... More

Good lead up pathway for first half of climb. Bring stick as aid for second part, for stability, could slip and have soft landing on your nether region if ground is a bit soggy, cant have soggy bottom, can we? Otherwise is a relatively easy climb. Great 360 degree allround view from the top of Sligo, see Carrowmore, Benbulben, Sligo... More

Climb to the top and you get a bird's eye view of a good piece of Sligo. The hike to the top is not for those out of shape.

Went for a climb in the morning, from sligo to strandhill. It tooks us 2.5 hour to achieve it. We had a lovely sunny day, views from both sides were magnificient. From Sligo city to Strandhill sides, overview of the bays and different peaks were breathtaking. We managed to get to Maebh grave and had a good look at the different... More

Spent the afternoon hiking to the top of Knocknarea to see Maeve's grave. We did the hike in late March, so the weather was cool and some of the terrain was muddy, but so worth it once we reached the top. There are two ways to reach the top and we started on the far side by the water, which... More
