Fabulous visit. A lot of informative plaques without being too wordy. You can climb spiral staircases to different levels of the keep or tower. Finding the gate gears, finding where the original gate was once upon a time. Imagining shooting arrows thru the narrow slots...More

Cahir Is a terrific little castle/fortress right in the town of Cahir, and very easily accessible. Our tour guide, Robert, was fantastic, and gave us a wonderful insight into the history of the castle. Our kids had lots of opportunity to explore the grounds, and...More

Cahir Castle is one of the largest and best preserved castles in Ireland. It is situated on an island in the river Suir. If you are going to nearby Rock of Cashel, add this as a stop. It is worth it. The castle allows you...More

Actually, it was quite spectacular to have a bride join our tour. She looked stunning walking up the steps of the castle dwelling! The castle was fun to explore with my girls. It also was a beautiful castle full of intrigue. Probably the most exciting...More

The grounds outside the castle are a treat due to the creative carvings. So worth the stop even though I didn't go in the castle.

If you are in the town or nearby, stop in and walk through this very kept up castle. The Keep is unique and cool to see still today. I believe this was a Butler castle for many, many years for the history buffs out there....More

Maybe it's because we sandwiched it between visits to the Rock of Cashel and Blarney Castle, but we didn't find Cahir Castle all that impressive. It is located in a nice, quaint village with shops and restaurants nearby and there is a park out back...More

Many of the Irish castles are in ruins but Cahir Castle is a rare exception. The castle and grounds are in excellent condition. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and shared many interesting tidbits of information. The castle is in the heart of Cahir adjacent...More
