Brillantly done from the cells and each with its own story and appalling conditions lived in. The dungeon that held the torture chamber for bad behaviour. upstairs a replicate ship was built showing how convicts were shipped to the new world to do hard labour...More

Instead of tearing it down, Wicklow Town decided to restore the old gaol where, among other reasons, criminals were held before being shipped off to America and later Australia. The recreations are very fun and there's a ghost! Great gift shop with, oddly, the best...More

This attraction makes the most of the disused prison in Wicklow. Realistic displays in the original cells make the visit authentic, sometimes frightening, and always informative. Two actors, the "matron" and a guard were brilliant. The whole experience gives a real feel for how it...More

This is a very small nice.prison, pretty weird to say that but this prison has got so much history that you just need to go inside and walk around. A shame that a big part of it has been destroyed .

Visited this jail before I flew home so didn't really know what to expect as we were pushed for time the tour was self guided which meant we could take as little or as long as we liked and it was fantastic and very interesting!...More

Really enjoyed the atmosphere created by the tour guide with his dead pan expression. The interactivity of the tour kept our 2 boys aged 11 and 8 fully interested. Very interesting slice of history.

Plenty of history, you are provided with electronic talkers that provide history as you travel from room to room. Plenty of things to read and great displays.

Kids really enjoyed the tour and we got a lovely bite to eat in the cafe, the jailers rest. The guy at the start of the tour was very good. All part of an Easter weekend in Wicklow.
