Had a fabulous morning here a few days ago. When me and my friend arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady, whose name unfortunately I can't remember. She gave a detailed overview of the background of the house and its owner which was really interesting and pointed out what not to miss in the house. Following this we looked... More

In between the basement kitchen, with its strange equipment, and the maid's simple room right at the top of the house, are several floors with rooms set out as they would have been in the past, along with examples of costume worn at different times in the history of the house. A fascinating place for adults and slightly older children... More

Whilst obviously not that large, this is an interesting place. Exhibits are well explained without going "over the top".

We always enjoy our visits here. Its so peaceful. There are many lovingly decorated rooms to explore. You have to linger a while, (children permitting on this occasion!) to take in all the details and beautiful furnishings. Plus there is also a small but perfectly formed playroom, a pretty walled garden, two period toilets for public use, a charming gift... More

Thanks Daniel for your lovely review. The house has really come alive now that the glass screens have been removed. Being able to stand in the rooms, has greatly improved the experience for our visitors. Lots of children's activities take place in the gardens during the warmer months, but this half term we have a Stamp, Print and Press workshop... More

It is a precious little gem and is loved by so many people of all ages. There will be lots of activities planned here over half term which I'm sure your grand daughter will enjoy should you get the chance to revisit. Just look on Derby Museums website for all our exhibitions, events and activities. Hope to see you again... More

We were taken to Pickford's House by friends and have to say how much we enjoyed it, a gem in Fryer Gate Derby, I think the NT have done well to preserve this treasure, I am not an automatic fan of some of the NT Stunts but in this case it has my recommendation.

Thank you for your lovely comments and just want to say we are not a National Trust property. Our lovely house is part of Derby Museums Trust which also runs the Museum & Art Gallery and The Silk Mill which are all within a few minutes walk from here. We have spent a lot of time opening up the rooms... More

We were expecting a lot more from the experience. One could see everything in less than half an hour.

Cor blimey......it takes me that long just to walk to the top of the stairs. Must be my age! The beauty about this town house is that people can take as little or as long as they like looking at the period rooms and displays. We all take in different things from our visit and I'm sorry that you were... More

This museum suits all ages. Very good. Lovely people. It's a pity our councilors want to reduce funding, so that they can spend more money on their offices and enjoy holidays in Beijing.

Really glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you saw the house decked in all its festive splendour based on traditional Georgian decorations. We even have a kissing bough in the kitchen! More
