This wonderful example of a Group of enthusiasts preserving out industrial Heritage, is only open on Wednesdays and Sundays. All members were happy to answer any questions about the Exhibits . Entrance is free so a Donation is always welcome when in steam to demonstrate the engines in action I was told the cost was £1000 per day. ,

We are open without steam on every Sunday and Wednesday throughout the year. These are our 'working' days but the public are welcome to come and view the mostly static engines (though we may be able to run some electrically for you) Our Steam Days are most Public Holidays when all the engines will be running on steam. See the... More

Called in on Sunday and although no steam was up we were invited in and the volunteers were so friendly and even started a couple of engines up for us under electric power so we could se the wheels turning. So interesting so see what powered our industries in days gone by up until steam was eradicated as a source... More

Fantastic collection of mill engines that are run by steam on some days. The volunteers are nice chaps and will chat with you about the engines. Well worth a visit with good access and parking.

Yes We can/will run all of our 30 or so engines on steam. There is plenty of parking on the supermarket car park. On Sundays and Wednesdays when we are not in Steam visitors are welcome and if we have time we can run some of the engines by electricity. More

A fantastic collection of steam engines only preserved, maintained and on show to the public thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers. It is free to enter but they do welcome donations as they are entirely self funding. The museum is clean and well presented with very informative signage. On steam days (most bank holiday weekends) the friendly volunteers are... More

What a amazing museum. So many different engines of different sizes to see, whirring around with the smell of oil and steam, amazing sounds of the different machines. Big wheels pistons, also a great collection of minature engines. A great team of volunteers run it, all happy to talk to people and answer questions. A great viewing area above. Cafe... More

Well worth a visit for families with young children. We spent a pleasant hour here. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to explain the workings of the different engines. Our four year old really enjoyed it and so did we.

I agree the signage is none existent, but easy to find on satnav. It's a large imposing heritage building on Morrisons Car Park. Loads of enthusiasts in smart long coats ready and willing to explain the exhibits. Buttons to press to start the engines, and plenty of clear detailed signs explaining the intricacies. A small cafe upstairs, worth going up... More

Possibly one of the best collections of big operational engines in the country. Have been on many visits I find all the exhibits fascinating.
