Well worth a visit to see the exhibits and enjoy a light lunch among the tree branches overlooking Whitworth Park. Well worth a visit but take a bus as parking is difficult. I found one of two accessible parking bays on Denmark Street nearer to Oxford Road. They prefer disabled wheelchair users to use the back entrance to the gallery.... More

I spent a lovely hour or so looking at the Revolutionary Textiles Exhibition and also the images from WW1. A lovely building with the exhibits that I saw, well laid out with appropriate information. The staff on the front desk were very helpful.

We spent an hour looking around this gallery, but it was rather full of modern art which is not to our taste. We wee impressed by the way the new wings have been attached to the original building and especially the cafe in the park.

The gallery is excellent, especially since the extension was opened. You can see why it's an award wining building and it's worth going just to sit in the cafe area or in the little garden at the back.

Beautiful gallery holding some incredible works of art we had no idea were housed in Manchester. A new and beautiful extension has opened for temporary exhibitions and it's stunning. A gorgeous sensory garden courtyard outside is also worth a mention. Really worth a visit.

The Whitworth Art gallery is a little way out from the city centre but is within walking distance and on numerous bus routes. Any gallery visit is coloured by the exhibition so my review is about the facilities. The building is a mix of old and new that works well. The exhition rooms are easily accessible, there is a shop... More

I was completely amazed at the absolute deafening screaming of groups of three and four year olds on my visit today. The first thing I saw was a large buggy park area in the exhibition space - where all the little darlings where set free from buggies and left to run all over the galleries screaming as the yummy mummy's... Allegedly over 55000 works of art, but hardly any of merit on display, taken over unfortunately by modern art and screaming infants. I use the word art loosely, and none of this rubbish is creative, and belongs in the bin rather than an art gallery. You have more chance of seeing creative, historic fine art in Ikea than the Whitworth.
