This library has been extensively renovated since I was last here, Downstairs there is a large exhibition space with a lovely cafe and local collections. Upstairs is one of the best pubic music libraries I've ever visited and in an impressive rotunda building.

It is a free place. Super big. In the city centre. Amazing library. Millions of books. Is just next to the city hall.

Central Library is many things, but never dull! A quiet spot for revision, a fount of knowledge for a startup business, a place to practice music, a cafe, a job club, a virtual office, 3D printing, a media archive - Central Library has the lot. Unlike a lot of libraries, this one has learned to adapt to its demographic. Local... More

I love this building! It's beautiful both on the inside and the outside! I used to study here often when I was at Manchester metropolitan university. I always found it to be relaxing and a better choice than studying at home

The Manchester Central Library exemplifies what all libraries should be - interesting, inviting, engaging, and beautiful. The building is centrally located on St. Peters Square and boasts an impressive historic exterior. Inside on the first floor you'll find a handy information desk, inviting cafe, and interactive computer displays on local history and urban development. This was like a combination Starbucks,... This is a must for any visitor to Manchester. With a 1934 exterior but very modern interior and interactive facilities. Great for family history plus you can view large number of local films all free of charge. Excellent cafe on ground floor and staff very helpful too. Easy access from St Peters Sq tram stop.

The central part of the library just up the stairs is a really large dome structure for people to read and study. It's a really nice interior and worth seeing, but other than that, it's just a library. It's free admission.

I popped in here in December while waiting for a friend (I was early) and was amazed at the what I saw. I visited again a few weeks later to have a good look round. There is a café, which is good value and there are plenty of places to sit, read or relax and watch the world go by.... More
