My son and I actually discovered this by accident. Walking in an area of town we do not normally visit, No charge unless you have bags which must be checked. Very nice presentation of this region traced from earliest signs of humanity. A large number of artefacts, nice scale models for presentation. All signs are in French only, but fairly... More

The museum building is inside the Jardin Public park. The museum is not open and no expected date of reopening is displayed outside the building – just that it’s due to reopen in 2014. It’s a shame that the official Tourist Office website (Office de Tourisme de Bordeaux) says ‘closed for refurbishment until 2013’.

I wish more discriptions were translated, but it was still a positive visit. Well lates out and free. All one needs is about one hour.
