Not to be missed, the bell and tower are very beautiful and certainly worth a quick visit and a few photos.

This is a massive bell tower located adjacent to the Eglise Saint Eloi. The tower is quite imposing, and you can appreciate the bell best from the Rue Saint James.

As we spend a lot of time walking around on our breaks we came across this, it was at night and it was stunning. I loved it it was just a wee bit down a side street and was fantastically illuminated. well worth a look.

and yes it does chime. Anyone remotely interested in stonework or horology should spend a few minutes looking at it from all directions. It is quite difficult to photograph by the way because if the sun is strong you will miss the detail. I suggest early morning is a good time. We arrived after the rather mysterious opening arrangements had... More

The gate is beautiful and looks fascinating. But visiting is hard. There was a notice implying it was open, but the door was locked. About 20 minutes later we found there was a guide (only guided tours allowed) who had wandered off down the road with two tourists. No notice, no explanation, intimidating, shambolic. We didn't visit, too hard, like... More

This is another old gateway that includes an old clock. The latter really makes this worth your time to take a good look. Make sure you look at both sides of this wonderful old piece of city architecture.

The history of this Bell tower spans the English/French ownership of the city. Really beautiful!, we travelled there on the essential Bordeaux bike experience, the best way to see the city.

Big city gate with big bell, well renovated and heavy decorated, looks great on photos. It's placed on UNESCO path.

The Grand Clock of Bordeaux is a former gate to the old city Town Hall, with a large clock and bell. Despite the clock being quite mistimed (both the time as well as the date), it is architecturally pleasing, and still worth the quick photostop.
