Called this way until 1958 when the live domestic animals were moved to another remote location, this market is alive and full with interesting counters today. Google the name to find its very interesting history, including what dictated the shape of its roof. Produce and fresh fruits, meat, fish and more fish, several small cafes and places to munch, some... More

During our recent visit to Bordeaux we really enjoyed our Sunday morning stroll through the flea market ending up in Marche des Capucins. Being a European market enthusiast this place blew me away with everything that was on offer, wine, food stalls, vegetables, fish, meat, you name they have it. The whole place is vibrant, we had to try the... More

An awesome display of all sorts of fresh fruit, veg , fish , meat, bread etc. Just had to have something to eat so enjoyed some great moules and frites washed down with a nice cold beer in Bistro Paulette. The guy there was very friendly and chatty, almost felt like a local. Lovely experience.

We got to the market about 10.30am and maybe it was too early? There was a good display of vegetable, meat and fish, but most of the food stalls were closed, or yet to open and so the overall effect was disappointing compared to the atmosphere created on the Rick Stein Weekend away programme that led us to Bordeaux in... We visited this wonderful market on April 9, a Sunday. It was vibrant, exciting, and alive with enthusiastic vendors and shoppers. I could compare it with markets in other places like Peru, but it was much cleaner, safer, and better organized. We wanted to find steamed mussels (moules frites) and we did so at a small restaurant inside the market... More

I loved this market and visited each dayI was in Bordeaux. The products on offer are quality and you can tell the sellers care about what they do. The seafood stands are a pleasure to see (and not smell because fresh seafood doesn't smell) and my wife had to tear me away from the oyster stalls. There are a number... More

We always try and visit a food market when we are in a new city. This one was pretty much as we expected, lots of fresh produce, fish and meat. We didn't buy as we were staying in a hotel but the quality looked to be very good.
