More of a science exhibit than a museum, I can highly recommend walking here along the coast from Biarritz on a nice day. You can't currently walk at sea level (unless the tide is out) from Cote des Basques to Milady beach. As well as the inside don't forget to explore the roof which is shaped like a wave. Thursdays... Only half the exhibits are in English or Spanish; several exhibits failed to work including Sauvetage. The Virtual Tour 360 includes a small number of fish/amphibians that are way too common, and well known such as sharks, Dolphins, tortoises AND you can hear the surrounding noise which spoils the calmness divers enjoy underwater; As for Virtual Tour 360 of 12... Fully multilingual hi tech displays imaginatively deal with many aspects of the oceans. Not really suitable for young children, more suitable for ages 10 plus. Essential visit for key stages 3, 4 & 5. Interesting for adults too.

Loved this place that exceeded expectation. Informative, interactive and innovative. Something for all the family - my 7 year old was very well entertained. Good food in the cafe and restaurant too, although the restaurant is pricey and needs booking at the weekend.

I do recommend to visit Cite de l'Ocean for those who are in to science and environment. A lot of animations are set at the museum, which makes the tour very attractive. The full visit may take few hours to read and watch all.

This museum is difficult (but not impossible) to get to without a car. There is an admission fee. Many of the exhibits are electronic--recordings and videos--that require you to push a button to make them work. Unfortunately, quite a few were not operational. Informative displays on the ocean and its creatures. Perhaps the highlight is a virtual reality surfing experience.

We had good time there but we really like science museums. It seems to be very new. Everything is white with many spaces. You have several audiovisuals but all of them are in french. There is a 3d film where the kids try to reach the fishes and seahorses. The guides are in french spanish and english. Some of them... More
