An amazing experience! The real paintings (rare to see in the world). It was beautiful, extremely interesting also from a geologic point of view and the guide was passionate, and knowleadgeable. Access to the caves is very limited, even more exclusive than Font de Gaume:...More

We went in mid-September and had purchased our ticket that morning. We knew our tour would be in French but that was all that was available so we took it. When we got to the cave it was not pretentious--it, more or less, looked like...More

People are spoiled by the huge number of decorated caves in the area. This is a fantastic place with some beautiful carvings, the lioness especially.

The Combarelles cave is a very narrow, low-ceilinged, zigzagging, 160 meter deep tunnel decorated with over 800 engravings and drawings. Decorations start 70 meters from the entrance, subjects depicted range very widely: From the more common bisons, horses, aurochs, mammoths and reindeer, to some spectacular...More

We had picked 3 caves to go too, and this was one of them. We weren't disappointed. They allow only a limited number of people to visit at a time, but well worth it. You purchase your tickets at Font de Gaume and then it...More

In early May we were able to walk up to Font de Gaume and get tickets to Les Cambarelles that same afternoon. Our tour was in French, but our guide asked in the beginning if other languages were spoken by participants. When I said "English"...More
