Negative comments about this place are real shame from my point of view. There is very interesting history of the late owner of this place and about his quest to find entrance to Lascaux. By doing that he discovered one very important Neanderthal site. I rather enjoyed this place as it is real place. Not for a moment I'm suggesting... More

Step back in time and imagine the cavemen who once painted these ancient murals inside the walls of the caves of Lascaux. The paintings are estimated to be over 17,000 years old.

We came here to grab something to eat after visiting Lascaux II and we wish we didn't as it tainted the whole visit. The place is tacky and uninteresting, made obvious by the fact that they need live captive bears just to try and interest people. The bears are in awful conditions and it would probably be more humane to... More

As a prehistoric site it's pretty dismal. The guide did her best but it was all in French and the items on display were just not interessting enough. However, i would still advise you to pay admission to get in so at least they will have the funding to sustain the 5 brown bears under their care.

This place generates income from those who have time to kill before or after a visit to Lascaux II nearby. The displays try to be informative but are in French only. Outside bears, deer and other "stone age" animals wander about in the enclosures. Inside, exhibits are aimed at older children who can read and not those who expect 3D... More

This site is an absolute ripoff! Bleeding off a major site (Lascaux II is excellent I might add), it is mis-represented, tacky and cruel. Advertising an English tour (5 words of English!) and prehistoric relics, it has two pens in which the bears are in appalling condition. Boycott this site and the bears may find a decent home. Truly disgusted!

Sad it is not the real thing but understandable that the originals were being ruined. Our guide was interesting & very informative - amazing how much information you can provide for just 2 rooms of paintings... worth a visit but not as Wow I we felt it should be given the historical significance of these paintings.......
