This is a special place. The cave below has had three owners: the church, the King of France and the Drouhin Family. We attended a special Dinner of the Dukes held in the cave with terrific food and great wines by Drouhin. It was held in the old parliament underground. It was spectacular. the next day we returned for a... More

We noticed this special tour online while in Beaune and were able to book it. Only done rarely and is about the WWII activities of Maurice Drouhin. He was in the Resistance and was hidden by the nuns in the Hospice archives. Tour included the cellars and a tour of the Hospice including rooms not open to the public, which... More

This was a very interesting wine tour because of the history of Maison Drouhin which provided a tour of the centuries old cellars which are underneath the city and church. The history oozes from the stone walls and some of the well aged bottles. Our guide was very knowledgeable and, at the tasting, we were treated to some very nice... More

This is a spectacular tour. The underground caves are amazing and seemingly neverending. So much history to see, both in Beaune and with Maison Drouhin. Unfortunately, our tour was marred by a group of five wine drinkers being led by a guide who kept volunteering his advice to us. Was tempting to tell him to leave us alone, but kept... More

This winery, whose boutique is in the center of Beaune near the church, offers small group tours by appointment. I highly recommend going, as their tour focuses on their historic wine press and cellars under the streets of Beaune. Although they still age wine in barrels and bottles down there, most of their production is now taken care of at... More

What a fabulous place in the charming village of Beaune. I am a big fan of Droughin wines being from Oregon and also being members at Domaine Droughin in Willamette valley. We had a spectacular private tour of the underground wine cellars and caves, a whopping 2.5 acres! Our host was very knowledgeable and we never felt rushed. We tasted... More

This domaine is the proprietary of the oldest wine cellars of Beaune, 800 years old. They even have excavated the old Roman ruins that date to the 3rd Century. Beyond the impressive aspect of its age, the tour offers an amazing story of the different chapters of ownership of the cellars and what the current owner family has done for... More

I agree with aspects of many of the previous reviews. If you are in burgundy then it is important to gain a sense of the significance of the traditional negotiant and the sway they hold in Beaune. The cellars are impressive even if you don't care at all about wine. The passion and knowledge of the staff should also be... More

This was one of the most informative and memorable visits of our wine country tour arranged by French Wine Explorers. Maison Joseph Drouhin's cellars, founded in Beaune in 1880, started as the Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune (12th-18th centuries) and now extend to the Moulin de Vaudon, an 18th Century watermill in... A great way to spend at few hours in Beaune. Visiting the cellars and a very pleasant wine tasting to finish with Best Marc de Bourgogne I've tasted but some great wine as you'd expect
