It has a really old cedar tree!

It was a Sunday so we didn't go into the museum but the grounds are nice enough for a stroll around after you have visited the cathedral. Check out my photos of the Cedar tree

For a little museum tucked into Tours this was an absolute delight on a rainy day. Some wonderful pieces of art that reside within the museum and many borrowed pieces from the larger Parisian galleries. It felt like one was browsing through the private art collection in someone's manor. Interestingly the windows provided quite a bit of natural light which... More

if you like gilt, religious, battles, marble busts etc. you'll love it. Very good collection, well presented. The building, itself is lovely, very well maintained, plaques everywhere to explain and describe plus info given out for free at the desk in various languages. Affordable, too, 6 euros, 3 for seniors. No rip off. I loved the cedar of Lebanon outside... More

We were impressed by the range and quality presented here in quite a small gallery. Well worth a few hours when in Tours

It's a small museum set in the former bishop's palace amid wonderfully ornate formal gardens. In early June it was pleasantly uncrowded and a joy to visit, although the collection is quite modest. The area around the museum and the cathedral next door is worth exploring at the same time.

Well worth the trip. I would recommend paying for a guide - the older man with the impressive beard and moustache is amazing!

If you do nothing else in Tours you must visit Mussee Des Beaux Arts. The gardens are exquisite and beautifully manicured. The art works are displayed over 3 floors in this wonderful chateau.

This local museum houses an extremely varied collection of fine art from the Medieval period up to the 20th century. The quality of the pieces is also rather varied, though there is some particularly fine Baroque portraiture, as well as some peculiar but appealing vistas of Reformation-era battles. The formal gardens outside, however, were the real highlight, and a fine... More
