The Chateau itself is impressive. And the story of how it was resurrected and restored by a Spanish guy and his American wife is unique. The formal gardens are noted work wide as one of the best. Quite a site to see and walk amongst the plantings. Do yourself a favor and tour Villandry.

This is by far one of the best gardens we have visited in France. If you love gardens, this is definitely a must place to visit. The scale and attention to detail are amazing. Yes, the gardens are all very formal and typically in the French style. Even the vegetable gardens are impressive to look at. There is a lovely... More

Did not bother with going in the chateau and spent 90 mins going round these spectacular formal gardens. We were probably a few weeks too early for the best display but the scale and ambition of these multi-level gardens demonstrates the real ambition of the renaissance gardeners and their modern day successors. A combination of high vantage points, brilliant geometric... More

We didn't have time for château but enjoyed the amazing gardens.Immaculate, formal and beautiful, but not overbusy.Arriving at 1pm there were no queues for admission either. Dog was welcomed and offered water by the kind staff in the shop.

This is formal gardening on a grand scale. A few years ago we came in April and the trees weren't even in leaf but the formality of it all was still there. Lovely to see the trees in leaf now and the vegetables and flowers in the formal gardens too. Still can't believe there are only 10 full time gardeners.... More

This Chateau has a beautiful garden which is what made it different from the rest. Otherwise, it is almost similar to the others.

If you enjoy formal boxy gardens, this is a gem. If you prefer free form gardens, this will be a disappointment.

The chateau was nice as far as chateau's go, but the gardens were stunning! Entry fee is 10.50 euros each adult, reduced for children. There are three floors in the chateau, and three wings. We spent about 1.5 hours and saw everything, but there were few people there, so no waiting. Parking is free and it is directly across the... More

This was the most reasonably priced chateau out of the three that we went to see. It had free parking and was only 10.5 euros for the chateau and the gardens. Having seen both the chateau and the gardens, the best way to get an overview of the gardens are to see them from the chateau. We also watched the... More

The Chateau is a magnificent example of arcitecture and gardens in harmony with each other. This is one of the last Renaissance Chateau's built on the banks of the Loire. There are 6 beautiful terraced gardens which surround the magestic chateau buildings. The view of the gardens is even better from above in one of the Chateau's stunning rooms or... More
