Small but interesting Champagne tour

We went to G. H. Martel today to take one of their tours, but they had posted a sign saying they could no longer offer tours of the cellars, due to safety reasons. No further explanation was given, other than this was a very recent change. (Tours were offered yesterday.) Their website still shows tours as an offering. Tastings are... More

Martel is less well known because it does not export much to US. But they do a nice job with the tour and a super job with the champagne. Wow. With a disabled person in our group, Emmanuel the guide adjusted the tour, using an elevator to get down into the cellars and shortening the tour to avoid long walks... More

We stumbled upon this champagne house as we were early to our visit to Pommery and being Sunday there was nowhere open. No cafes or bars. Be warned you need to take a packed lunch if you visit the champagne houses on a Sunday. There is nothing in this part of the city. But Martel was great. The cheapest tour... More

The place is small, and unlike most non-French we've never heard of the champagne before. The reception staff is very nice and welcoming, and we did the tour in French (the English one was later and we could get by in French). You get a general video of champagne (if you've done any tours then the description of the process... More

Excellent place for a tasting if you don't want to take another cave tour. Friendly and welcoming. English spoken. Comfy lounge area for tasting and excellent champagne. We purchased a very reasonably priced bottle from here.

We'd been struggling to find anywhere open and with a tour in English (the champagne houses in the area had all switched to low season the week before we went so quite a few were closed at weekends). So we were delighted to find this place open. Actually we'd just missed the last tour of the day in English, so... More

We came here after a visit to Veuve and loved it! The tasting room is very Victorian and charming. There was a VIP tour earlier in the day, and as a result we got to try a few very special bottles that were opened. The Blanc de Blancs was out of this world and one of the best champagnes we've... We visited Martel, Taittinger and Veuve Cliquot on our tour in Reims. GH Martel was our least favorite. This is a small champagne house in comparison to the others in the area, and we did not enjoy the tastings as must as the other houses.

As part of a visit to Reims and to several champagnes houses in the area, we visited Martel’s old processing area in Reims - if visiting Martel you can only visit this building/cave, as their ‘new’ processing plant in Epernay does not do tours. The tour was really interesting and very informative, and we got a chance to see some... More
