Once you've climbed the stairs on both sides, you can see Napoleon's life-size bronze statue overlooking his birth city.In between, as you climb, you can read Napoleon's high deeds and quotations..

We managed to visit this off the road train trip, and we saw others doing it from a bicycle tour. An imposing monument but not worth the climb up on its own.

Took the Petit train with a stop at Place d'austerlitz and the great monument of Napoleon A massive structure and a slightly challenging climb up the steps but worth it It's as if Napoloeon is watching over Ajaccio

Everyone visiting Ajaccio should make the effort and visit the Place d'Austerlitz with the striking statue of Napoleon gazing over the city. It is easily reached on foot or by the Petit Train d'Ajaccio

Monument to the Battle of Austerlitz with statue of Napoleon atop a tall stairway – good views from the top. Some 2km and 30 minutes walk west out Ajaccio centre along Cours Gandavel. Best visited via the Petit Train (from Place Foch).
