This grand palace was a favorite of Napoleon, who dramatically remodeled the old château during his stays there from 1807 to 1809.

Get there early before the ticket conter opens and the tour groups appear. Recommend self-guided tour with English commentary headphones. At the entrance of the castle you will find a beautiful garden with a walking path that takes you to the main entrance. It is known that this was one of Napoleon's favorite castles. It was inhabited for 8 centuries, which didn´t happen with other...More

This is worth the visit to Fontainebleau, take half a day to wonder the halls of this incredible place, a guided tour will give you a glimpse into the history and who lived there in history!

This chateau is easily accessible by train from Paris as a day trip. There is a public chateau bus from the station that runs every 10-15 minutes, so the logistics are simple. When you consider that the chateau housed French royalty from Francis I through...More

Magnificent altogether. Well worth a visit inside and to spend much time in the extensive gardens. Toilets are definitely not great!

Sorry, I don't know. There is a contact email and telephone number on the website for an accurate answer. As I remember the apartments and the Napoleon I museum were separate entities.

There are a few cafés and restaurants in the little town next to the Château. They were open in December when I was there - I assume they're open year-round.
