To bring the age-old traditions of the Hammam (steam room) to modern life,...

To bring the age-old traditions of the Hammam (steam room) to modern life, and to transmit the precious values of this practice to other women – these are the desires that motivated Karisma Lasfar to share her culture and its history. The opening of O’Kari Hammam-spa was the fulfilment of these long-cherished aspirations. How much time do you have ? Karima wants to know if you have enough time to spare to receive the true Hammam experience. Two hours at least! And three would be much better! That’s because the Hammam experience at O’Kari is the polar opposite of all those “express” beauty treatments offered elsewhere.A sign of refinement and civilization in antiquity, the Hammam is an art of living, a rite dedicated to the harmony and the beauty of the body. This deserves all the time we can spare.

Absolutely lovely experience from start to finish. The facility is beautifully clean and the attendants are caring and skilled. This is a hammam, which means treatments are in common rooms. Some of the women wear bikinis and others just the provided one-use thong. I arrived without a reservation on a Saturday morning and the kind woman at the desk accommodated... More

Overall my daughter and I enjoyed the services we received. The problem was an overwhelmed and somewhat disorganized staff. We had to inquire several times when we would be receiving our services before we were actually seen which meant a long time sitting around (we had been in the sauna/soaking pool multiple times at this point). We were 2 1/2 hours... We are extremely disappointed to had received you in these conditions. But we did the best to welcome you. I remember I scheduled your appointment just 3 hours before you came cause you only can come this day. Saturday we have to do with people come late and who wants to add massage, a facial... even if we say no.... More

Came to Paris for the first time with a friend of mine. We are from Canada and saw reviews for Hammam Spa's and the amazing experiences that people have had, so we booked with O'kari based off of reviews and this spot is amazing, all staff are friendly, the amenities are clean, and the services we received were better than... I called Karima after a long work week in Milan, she was so lovely explaining my options to my visit. I chose the beauty package. As it was my first hammam experience, everything was made so clear. With lovely touches such as the homemade lemonade just when I thought of needing a drink. So refreshing. Leaving the hammam, I was... More

I have never had a more relaxing afternoon than the one spent at O'Kari hammam. This was my first time visiting a Turkish bath and I wish I hadn't waited so long! The facilities were super clean and smelled wonderful. Yes, you are very exposed but if you are very self conscious, you can wear a bathing suit (it is... More

Women only, as is the tradition; treatments are done in largish open spaces, not in private. The owner is a lovely woman and explains the process carefully to newbies...steam, soap, steam, scrub, honey and nigella facial, shower, steam, cool pool, massage...basically. Very CLEAN. Felt very safe and in good hands. Quiet, almost meditative. Simple, pure products. Nurturing, cleansing, relaxing...

I was looking forward to this visit at O'Kari for my birthday, I wanted to be and feel a bit pampered and have some time away from my husband and kids; and after reading the reviews I was very excited. I have a good amount of experience with spas, it's usually something I do twice a year at least, but... More

Perhaps Saturday afternoon is not the best time to visit. I was really looking forward to spending three hours at O'Kari after reading the reviews but ended up feeling disappointed. The place is small and as described lovely inside with lots of candles around the place. However, it is quite small and there were just far too many people there... More

My friend suggested this place and we booked for Saturday for 2 persons. Since I have tried a few hammam in Paris, I think this one just fits perfectly to my expectations. Price is a bit pricey, and I understand why. Their warm welcome, smiles all the way, the ambiance is great. And I must say that anyone come to... More

I travel to Paris a couple of times a year, and I can't ever leave this city without indulging in a spa day at O'Kari. As a frequent traveler, I've been to many spas and hammams in various cities, from New York to Istanbul - pretty much all over the world. O'Kari, however, is a unique little gem in the... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
