Place des Vosges has a great history Do some research before you visit as it will give your time in this place more importance. There is a large park in the middle where you can sit and watch every sort of person walk by. There are children playing and lovers strolling, enjoying the gorgeous structures surrounding them. Outside the park... More

Lovely neat gardens, tucked in behind some ancient buildings. Loved the trimmed trees and the fountain. we sat and absorbed the area for some time, and explored the quaint shops in the arcade that goes around the square. A must visit.

When in Paris one has to visit Place des Vosges. We walked all the way from Montparnasse on a cold day. There are just lovely buildings and places to visit. Children played football on the square and the atmosphere is wonderful. Lovely places to eat and Picasso museum is close by. A worth while visit.

Sit in the sun for a while, or stroll around its paths. Then move on into one the many eateries, Bistro's, restaurants, brasseries, that line the place or are located in the nearby small streets.

This is a lovely place to spend some quiet time while in the Marais. You can walk around the outside of the square under the arcades admiring the galleries or stop at one of the chic cafes, or get some sunshine in the park, which has plenty of benches and the odd statue of obscure Kings ( Louis IX anyone?)... A very quiet place, right in the heart of the city. Nice garden, surrounded by fancy buildings (I suppose they were expensive apartments). Really worth a visit, to sit down and relax, or to stroll around. This is my third visit to Paris, and my third visit to Place des Vosges. On both previous occasions I had gone in daytime.... More

It is a lovely place, as for the others that I have been to. Good to sit and spend hours relaxing, reading a book or only admiring the historic building.

Sitting in the park on a sunny afternoon just to relax or read a book is a truly nice experience. Surrounded by beautiful red buildings you feel like you are in Paris but you have space to breath. It's also a great place for a picnic when it's not cold outside, better than the champs de mars for sure (less... More

We walked through when we were exploring Le Marais. It was a nice place to sit and have a rest. There were quite a few people exercising in the park.

A lovely area to spend a whole afternoon or even a whole day. Lovely variety of shops, from artisan bakeries and cafes to macaroon shops to makeup shops to high end boutiques to cheap vintage shops. Beautifully kept.

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
