A lovely park right in the middle of a bustling neighborhood -- great for a picnic!

So I grabbed a sandwich and water down the street at Sacha Finkelszatjn (original sandwich - OMG!) and needed a place to eat it. After trying to find the local park (which is private and closed a lot) found this place and loved it! Great shady or sunny places and fountains, kids playing, people just enjoying the great weather, etc.... More

My research led me to believe this was going to be fantastic, and given the historical significance it is. But to visit today is kind of a footnote compared to what else there is to see in Paris. I had the impression that this was a top 10 destination in Paris but I don't think it is. It's a square... More

This is a lovely place to stop and just take in the beauty of Paris. Located in the Maris and several free museums in the area.

I have been in Paris many times. In some case I stayed in the hotels in the proximity of Place des Vosges an impressive place to be, with little nice bars, coffee shops and restaurants. Some nice shops are also around, which is a nice place, full of local people.

What a delight to sit in the deep shade of the trees which ring the Place des Vosges for a rest after a wander from Place de la Republique. Cool on our bench looking out into the bright sunshine of a park occupied by mothers (and grandparents) with babies and groups of students, all enjoying a Spring day on the... More

Still one of our favorite places to stroll through and dream about living there during the time of Victor Hugo. Trees lining the park are beautiful.

After a walk in the Marais erea, it is a good idea to go to its heart: Place des Vosges. Beautiful brick buildings, with arcades with art galleries., and a lovely garden in the middle. Great place to rest and have a city picnic

Within the Marais area (a wet area and swamp until the end of the Middle Ages) Place des Vosges is a archtecture jewel. All buildings look alike, a large garden in the middle enabled us to get a nice picnic. Victor Hugo house is located at a South-East corner. A few bars and restaurants are located at the Northern side.... More

I tell anyone coming to Paris to come here, preferably on a Sunday when it is buzzing. We've been multiple times. Read up on the history to appreciate it even more. It has a large courtyard with 4 "mini parks" ,each with grass and a fountain. Adults and children are playing,sun-bathing,sleeping, snuggling and even doing acrobatics . Beautiful alleés with... Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
