Free entry so the audio tour pen is a must! It's not only very clever but the guide is really informative and includes access to The Treasury. You cannot come to Paris and not see it's very beginnings! Leave yourself a good 1.5 hours to do this piece a history justice.

It is always worth while visiting the cathedral on a trip to paris. On this occasion, it was about 7pm and dark when we went in and the atmosphere was deeply evocative of the past, especially since an evening Mass was in progress. We could still walk around and introduced our friends to the beauties of the Rose Window etc.

In my twenty years of visiting Paris, I've not missed the chance to marvel at this incredible monument. For me Notre Dame is Paris.

The Cathedral is great, queues are long as it is free, great architecture, you can go to the top , we didn't , but that is once you have seen the cathedral and come out, there is another entrance to go up , not sure whether that is paid entrance or free

A beautiful cathedral, in the hear of Paris. Expect to queue for a bit, but the interior is more than worth it. If you feel up for it climb the tower!

Overwhelming in stature, it is a must-see event on a Sunday!! Enter the cathedral one of 2 ways......you can go in and sit for mass or walk thru around while mass is going on to view the splendour and listen to the wonderful choir. This is a must-see event while in Paris !!

If you arrive early, this is amazing. The line was non existent. We arrived at opening time and spent 2 hours inside and by the time we left the line was quite long and as it was below 0C degrees, that could be quite daunting. If taking the time to take in the spiritual and beauty, you will not be... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
