Montmarte was one of the last spots on our trip. I suggest getting a ride up and walking down. The views are lovely. We really enjoyed the artist vibe in the quaint town. We even got our likenesses drawn by a local artist. This is a lovely place to spend the day and walk down the hill for excellent shopping... More

This area is romantic and quaint. Takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. Highest point in all of Paris. We were there before sunset to catch it setting on the city- so beautiful and romantic!

I had read about Montnarte and glad I decided to go. I took an uber from my hotel to Montmarte. Such a quaint and charming place. Many artists, (van goh spent lots of time here). Many eateries and cute shops. Spectacular views and so relaxing. Just a gem away from Paris. Loved it.

This is one of the most beautiful places in Paris. Easy accessible by train. Main attraction is the Basilica which stands on top of the hill over looking the City. Many Cobble stone streets to browse and a beautiful square where the artists are at work & selling their paintings. Plenty of restaurants & outdoor seating Be aware that it... More

This area is ultra ultra touristy, I cannot stress this enough. There are eating places touting for business and street artists trying to draw your image. It is just wall to wall people. As I stated visit once together with Sacre Coeur. There is a good Dali Museum there and The last vineyard in Paris. If you do not like... More

Montmarte is a great part of Paris It has great links via the Metro & the local buses but it also has loads of bars & restaurants & the Markets. The locals all appeared quite please to see us often speaking to us in English as we initially spoke in French . So much for the arrogant anti English Parisians... More

We took the train up to the Montmartre stop, & then spent the next couple of hours walking all around. Really enjoyed the varied types of art presented, & talking with the artists. Then we caught the train & finished the tour of the area. All very pleasant!

We took an Uber from our hotel here, really a fabulous was to get around in Paris, so easy, we enjoyed this area immensely, this was my first time here, but my daughter has been here many time and it is one of her favorite Paris neighborhoods. We wandered the streets, bought some art and a few souvenirs, had a... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
