Visited the memorial during our stay in Paris. Was somewhat disappointed as the monument looking a little tired. There were people placing padlocks onto the surrounding chain fence links, a few flowers and pictures placed at the bottom of the monument. Worth a look if passing but not worth a special trip to the site. The Monument has been placed... More

Fitting tribute to Princess Diana. Replica of the flame of the statue of liberty . Nice area to walk in and metro Alma de Marceau will take you back towards the hassle and bustle afterwards !

From the first sight-nothing special. I was surprised why people recommend to visit this place. But when I came and started to read what happened in the tunnel under this monument, it's impressed me deeply.

The car crash that claimed the life of Princess Diana happened in the tunnel below the Liberty Flame. It has since become a memorial for her. There are love locks on the chains around the statue, pictures of her placed at the base, and graffiti notes to her written on the bridge next to it. This year marks the 20th... More

Interesting as people put love locks all around the statue on chains and weight of ❤️ locks are damaging the metal poles. Lots of Diana photos and interesting notes 😊 Good day out 29/12/2016 Very cold day but enjoying the day 😊🇬🇧

I was surprised to find the Liberty Flame in Paris. What was it doing here? I found out that it is a full replica of the flame that can be found in New York City at the Statue of Liberty. After all, the French are the ones who gave the statue of Liberty to the USA. It was a welcome... More

This is a full size, gold leaf replica of the Liberty Flame atop of the Statue of Liberty in the New York City harbor. It was offered to and erected in the city of Paris in 1989 by donors throughout the world as a symbol of Franco-American friendship. Now, an unofficial memorial for Diana, Princess of Wales after her untimely... More

I'm not at all a royalist and I'm not a person who let's many things affect them emotionally, but the messages of love, the pictures and the generl feeling and knowing this lovely lady passed away WAY too early so close to the spot was actually ery hard hitting for me. I found myself very solemn. It's a lovely tribute... More

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the neighbourhood of grand and impressive Haussmann-designed apartments and buildings. National museums overlook the Eiffel Tower and embassies fill the avenues and streets. Locals head to the butcher, florist, or bakery on their daily rounds amidst luxury and splendour, all with a view over Paris and its most famous tower. Snuggled in between the grand buildings are small art galleries and homes of historical significance. With a rich legacy from 19th century politics, art, and architecture, you can’t help but be reminded of the belle époque, the Universal Exhibitions and the nobility that have frequented and shaped these streets.
